HI-8475 / HI-8476

The HI-8475 is an ARINC 429 Receiver designed specifically for use without a microprocessor. All configuration and control is programmed via logic level input pins, eliminating the need for a microprocessor or software interface and greatly reducing or eliminating the cost associated with software certification.

The 64-pin HI-8475 receives ARINC 429 data directly from the bus and makes the data available at 32 digital output pins. ARINC 429 label filtering is defined by 16 digital input pins, defining a maskable label match to enable reception of a single label or group of labels.

The 128-pin HI-8476 option increases the label match capability by two maskable labels, and provides both true and complementary digital outputs to simplify external logic. In addition, a default post-reset condition on the outputs is programmable before the first ARINC 429 word is received.

The receiver inputs are lightning protected to RTCA/DO-160G, Section 22 Level 3 Pin Injection Test Waveform Set A (3 & 4), Set B (3 & 5A) and Set Z (3 & 5B) with the use of only two external resistors. The devices support both high-speed and low-speed ARINC 429 data rates, operating from a 1MHz clock source and a single 3.3V or 5.0V power supply.

All devices are available in industrial −40oC to +85oC and extended −55oC to +125oC temperature ranges.

ADK-8476 RPT: ARINC 429 Repeater Reference Design

Contrary to what one may assume, a repeater is more than simply connecting the output of an ARINC line receiver to the input of a line driver. Such simple solutions usually result in transmitted waveforms that violate ARINC 429 timing requirements. Holt provides an elegant and cost effective solution for an autonomous ARINC 429 repeater using a two-component solution, eliminating microcontroller, software and associated certification costs, and any additional ARINC 429 protocol devices.
